Hanapin Named the #1 Best Place to Work in Indiana
Bloomington, Indiana May 4th, 2018 – After making the list for 6 years in a row (a rarity in itself), Hanapin Marketing was named as the #1 Best Place To Work in Indiana at last night’s awards ceremony, the largest Best Place to Work event to date in Indiana, as well as the largest in the country.
“In the world of HR, this is the stuff we dream about. Seeing our team happy and engaged is what keeps me going. In HR, it’s all about the people. Hanapin cares about our employees and you can see and feel it making a difference every day. All I hope for is that we can make Hanapin a place where employees, the company, and our clients can thrive. All that we do is centered around that core mission. We may be #1, but we will never stop trying to make Hanapin the best it can be,” says Rebecca Reott, Director of HR at Hanapin.
This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in Indiana, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. A dinner hosted by the Indiana Chamber last night, May 3rd, recognized the winners of this award and announced the rankings for those who made the top 125. The banquet was not only the largest for Indiana, but also the largest in the country.
“I come to work every morning excited to be part of such a great company and work with wonderful people. The value Hanapin places on employees through value alignment, benefits, training, culture, meaningful work, collaboration, flexibility and life balance is truly exciting and having employees who genuinely appreciate these efforts makes Hanapin an amazing place to work!” says Becky Throckmorton, Hanapin’s HR Coordinator, Benefits and Policy Administration.
Hanapin continuously works to improve policies, benefits, and the happiness of employees. In just 4 short years, we went from a 68% retention rate and a 38% turnover rate to a 95% retention rate and a 6% turnover rate. By focusing on our people, we’ve driven the company culture to be one of the best in the state and country. Along with being honored in the state of Indiana as a Best Place to Work, we’ve also been recognized by Ad Age and Inc. as one of the Best Workplaces in America.
“We believe you can measure the health of an organization by the laughter of its people. And folks at Hanapin laugh—and clap for each other—a lot. We work hard to find a diverse group of folks who share the same values and, because of that, we’ve created a talented, but humble group driven to serve our clients, their co-workers, and in their communities, which cover 20 States. Our happy people are why we have the happiest clients in the digital marketing industry (based on a NPS of 68). This award is validation of every person’s hard work, and we’re especially grateful for the people in our Talent & Culture department who help keep us moving forward.” said Jeff Allen, President of Hanapin Marketing.
Hanapin is a big proponent of work/life balance, so we aim and encourage our team to only work 40 hours per week. Benefits like flexible work schedules, the ability to work a half day on Fridays, and remote work options allow employees to be most productive at work and enjoy their personal lives. In addition to traditional paid holidays, employees get their birthday off and a quarterly 2nd- 2nd holiday where we close the office on the second Friday of the second month. We use that Hanapin-unique holiday to rest and rejuvenate.
Recent initiatives include a paid parental leave program for both mothers and fathers – one of the first in Indiana. In implementing this policy, we hope to start a trend of more companies offering paid time for new parents to bond with their baby and focus on their growing family, without the pull of financial or work stress.
Another popular initiative with the team is volunteer hours. Hanapin provides paid hours to use as desired. Employees have gone on volunteer trips around the world, built a Habitat for Humanity home, or joined a local non-profit board and contributed their expertise. Along with offering 10 company-sponsored volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including using half days volunteering around the holidays and in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., employees are encouraged to get involved with their local communities and help make a difference.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Indiana. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Indiana, analyzed the data, and determined the final rankings.
Hanapin will be hiring for digital advertising and administrative positions throughout the year. Interested applicants may apply online at https://www.hanapinmarketing.com/careers/open-positions/
