Hanapin Marketing to Celebrate Ten Years in Bloomington with Open House and Ribbon Cutting Event
The Successful Tech Company is Opening Its Doors to the Public to Celebrate a Decade of Growth and Economic Development
January 29, 2014 — Hanapin Marketing is celebrating its tenth anniversary on Monday, February 3, and it’s marking the occasion by hosting an open house and ribbon-cutting event at the Hanapin offices in downtown Bloomington.
Monday will mark ten years to the day since Hanapin was founded as a local tech startup, and the public is invited to attend the ceremony, which begins at 5:00 pm.
Pat East, founder and CEO of Hanapin Marketing, says that the company’s ten-year anniversary is an important milestone for both the company and the city.
“Ten years is a great milestone for a lot of reasons. It means we’re a robust business and not fly-by-night. It means we’ve had a big enough impact for our clients that we can keep creating value for them. It means we’ve made it through the startup rollercoaster and are now in a position to support other startups as well as the local community,” East said.
The company is a thriving member of the local tech community, and has experienced phenomenal growth after just one decade in the digital advertising industry. Jeff Allen, Hanapin’s President, says that is no accident.
“I’m very proud to work for a company that has been around since the very early days of our entire industry. A lot of companies in our market don’t last long. Celebrating ten years demonstrates that we value durability, long-term vision, and that while we work hard, we do celebrate the successes we achieve,” Allen said.
In the years since it was founded by East in 2004, Hanapin has become a leader in the digital advertising industry, and it now runs the world’s most-trafficked digital advertising blog, “PPC Hero,” and produces the industry’s largest digital advertising conference, “Hero Conf.”
During that time, the company’s employee base has grown exponentially, and it now employs more than 40 people with no signs of slowing down. That growth has been an important part of the company’s goals as well as the City of Bloomington’s goals for economic development.
“We have an extraordinarily talented staff, who work extremely hard and take great pride in what they do. It’s extremely gratifying to know that the company has been able to create jobs for so many people in Bloomington, past and present,” East said.
Every employee in the Hanapin office hears that message loud and clear, many of whom are excited by the chance to have guests exploring their office space. “An open house shows how open and transparent Hanapin is, and it’s right in line with our culture of sharing information and knowledge with anyone who wants it,” said Rachael Law, an Account Manager at Hanapin.
East said the company wouldn’t be where it is today without the local support network that helped it grow. “I’m forever indebted to folks like Brian Kleber, the first director of inVenture, Bloomington’s incubator, for his guidance during our first few years, and Ron Walker, Danise Alano-Martin, and Mark Kruzan for their support in helping us grow through economic incentives during the past few years.”
Mayor Mark Kruzan said that Hanapin and the City can both be proud of the milestone. “Indeed, the entire community can be proud because the public played a small part in the investment, through economic development assistance in 2010, that has resulted in this great benefit to the company and the community. This is but another perfect example of the economic impact these types of public/private partnerships can have for our community,” Kruzan said.
The open house is scheduled for Monday, February 3 at 5:00 pm in Hanapin Marketing’s offices at 501 N. Morton Street, Suite 212. All members of the public are welcome, and refreshments will be provided.
