Hanapin is looking to add a Director of Sales to our team. This person will be responsible for creating leads through prospecting/cold calling, driving our sales process, and closing sales to meet company objectives. Our Director of Sales will be equally adequate at generating their own leads as they are pursuing and closing inbound leads that are generating through our marketing channels. We are looking for someone to help us build lasting relationships with clients, not to make high-pressure sale pitches. Success for this role will be measured in terms of your ability to generate leads, to convert those leads to clients, to generate revenue, and to achieve sales goals.
Although our client base is worldwide, this position will work primarily out of our office in Bloomington, Indiana. Travel may be required for key deals at up to 20% of your time. You will report directly to the president and CEO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow-up on in-bound leads and referrals, driving them through the buying cycle (60% of time).
- Develop sales opportunities through prospecting based on our ideal target filters (30% of time).
- Identify RFP opportunities as the prime- or sub-contractor (10% of time).
- Pricing management and development of all proposals and agreements.
- Achieve monthly and quarterly sales goals.
- Provide product and sales support to existing clients.
- Work with the leadership and marketing teams to refine the sales and lead generation processes.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE
- Sales experience- You need a minimum of two years with a proven track record of exceeding sales goals and delivering significant revenue and customer growth.
- Consultative sales experience- You have B2B experience and are comfortable presenting to and interacting with senior management of prospective clients.
- Related industry- You work in online media, SaaS, or at a traditional marketing/advertising agency. Experience at a digital or interactive agency is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills- You work well independently, under pressure, and with tight deadlines. You manage multiple tasks simultaneously and have strong written and oral communication skills as well as outstanding people skills.
- Balanced motivations- Like any good sales person, you're motivated by winning and by money. The company's best interests also ground your individual goals. You achieve both through intelligence and excellent self-management skills.
- Creative and strategic thinking- The position is charged with building strategic, long-term partnerships with major brands.
- Excellent computer skills- At a minimum, you're comfortable with and have experience with sales programs such as CRM (e.g. High Rise), screen sharing (e.g. Go To Meeting), and sales proposal software (e.g. Proposable). Working knowledge of Internet marketing a plus.
- An entrepreneur's mindset- You don't have to be an entrepreneur, but as long as you have a "no excuses" approach and love new and exciting challenges, this may be the right position for you.
