Founded in 2004, Hanapin Marketing Owner and CEO Pat East had a vision of what the future of PPC would look like. In the early 2000’s while working for Author Solutions publishing house Pat became an expert in digital marketing and realized first hand the effectiveness of digital as a sales and marketing channel. In 2004, the industry was changing; Google was preparing to launch their IPO and the timing was right to make a change and leverage the skills he had developed. With now wife and co-owner, Jamie East by his side, and a perfect location in an emerging tech and startup hotbed in Bloomington, IN, there was a tremendous support system in place and Hanapin Marketing was created.
Hanapin Marketing immediately secured its first, and current client to this day in Author Solutions. As a start-up business operating out of a spare bedroom, Hanapin was about to embark on an amazing and rewarding journey. What followed soon thereafter was a company deliberately and consistently contributing to the advertising industry through education and top notch PPC capabilities.
Shortly after Hanapin Marketing was founded PPC Hero was created, a PPC blog written by Hanapin’s account managers to deliver expertise and thought leadership to the industry. Since then, PPC Hero has grown to have a readership in the hundreds of thousands, and receives over 2 million page views each year.
In 2012, Hero Conf was founded to address an under-served need for conferences specific to pay-per-click advertising and the growing community within it. Marketing conferences are common, but few dedicate their entire time to the complexities of PPC Strategy. Today, Hero Conf is one of the most popular conferences in the market, providing deep, actionable information on the most relevant PPC topics.
Additionally, the first course on digital advertising at Indiana University’s prestigious School of Library and Information Sciences was created and taught by our founder, Pat East.
