Bloomington is home to annual festivals, events, and activities that bring in people from all over the Midwest and beyond. Most notably is the annual Lotus Festival. Since 1994, the Lotus Festival has brought in world-renown music acts and art to Bloomington. Further, the Indiana University Auditorium brings in a diverse collection of entertainment acts each year, ranging from Bill Cosby's standup, to musicals like Sweeny Todd and Rent, to live action shows like Stomp. Its summertime in Bloomington and the livings easy - Lake Monroe, Indiana's largest lake, is a sight to behold. Built in 1965 and conveniently located only miles from Bloomington, Lake Monroe features a stunning stone-bluffed shoreline and wooded hills. There isn't a better way to spend a warm, sunny day than out on the lake. Then, mid June rolls around and the Taste of Bloomington comes to town. The Taste features dozens of Bloomington's best restaurants, musical acts, and vendors, all in one great downtown location. In addition to festivals and events, Bloomington also hosts the Farmers Market every Saturday morning, April through October, where residents can shop and buy fresh local fruit, veggies, and other high-quality goods.
